  7. Hounded Editor is made for modifying the data of the dogs. With Editor you can
  8. transfer dogs into your game for example from your friends. You need at least
  9. one saved game for using the editor. Modifications are made to your saved
  10. game. After finishing your editor session start Hounded and load the saved
  11. game that you used with Editor.

  14.                              HOW TO START EDITOR
  15.                              -------------------

  17. In order to use Editor load EDITOR.EXE. In same directory there should also be
  18. one saved game (SAVE?.HOU) and a file called DATA.HOU or RESERVE.HOU. If
  19. RESERVE.HOU is not available program searches for DATA.HOU. If DATA.HOU is
  20. also missing, editor displays an error message.

  23.                                 THE MAIN MENU

  26. After loading a game you will see THE MAIN MENU. You will have to choose one
  27. function by pressing a number key between 1 and 5.

  30.                                 1. CHANGE DATA

  33. After pressing number 1 in THE MAIN MENU you see the list of the dogs. The
  34. dogs that have number between 1-32 are dogs from your saved game. The dogs
  35. that have number from 33 to 64 are dogs from file RESERVE.HOU. Type the number
  36. of the dog whose data you want to modify. If you pressed Esc, you are back in
  37. THE MAIN MENU. After having typed the number you see the data of the dog you
  38. selected. If you do not understand everything you see, read HOUNDED.TXT. If
  39. you want to go back to THE MAIN MENU, type exit. In order to change something,
  40. type a number between 1 and 12. After entering the number you type the new
  41. value. There are few things you should know:

  43.  NAME:
  44.  - maximum length is 20 characters, minimum length is 1 character
  45.  - you should type the name in UPPER CASE because all the names in the game
  46.    are in upper case
  47.  
  48.  OWNER
  49.  - if the number of the dog is 33 or higher, the change is not permanent. When
  50.    you load or save game the owner of these dogs will be D.O.G. SYNDICATE

  52.  TRACK SENSE & FITNESS
  53.  - range: 1-99 (percent)

  55.  VALUE
  56.  - range: $1-$9999999
  57.  
  58.  WINS, 2ND OR 3RD PLACES, UNPLACED

  63.    - X <= WINS and X <= RUNS/3

  66.  - range: 1.00-99.99 seconds

  68. If you give very big numbers to WINS, 2ND ..., UNPLACED and CUP WINS, the dog
  69. can be worse than you expected.

  71.                                  2. SWAP DOGS

  74. After pressing number 2 in THE MAIN MENU you see the list of the dogs. In the
  75. bottom of the screen there is a text that asks you to give the number of a
  76. dog. The number must be between 1 and 32. You can type exit to return to THE
  77. MAIN MENU. After typing the first number you must type number between 33 and
  78. 64. After typing both the numbers the dogs exchange their places.

  81.                                  3. LOAD GAME

  84. LOAD GAME works same way as in Hounded except you are not asked if you typed
  85. the number correct. Read HOUNDED.TXT for more information.

  91. SAVE GAME works almost same way as in Hounded except you are not able to
  92. return to THE MAIN MENU by pressing Esc when you are typing the name of the
  93. saving. Read HOUNDED.TXT for more information. RESERVE.HOU is also saved here.

  99. Press Shift and number 5 (not from the keypad) simultaneously if you want to
  100. quit. Remember to save your game before exiting the Editor because nothing is
  101. saved here.
